New Delhi, 11th Oct: A Delhi Executive Magistrate Court has ordered the release of three Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders—Abhijit Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka—who were detained by Delhi Police ahead of a planned protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

The three leaders were detained shortly after arriving in Delhi on Saturday, October 10. They were reportedly travelling to participate in the protest linked to concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The court ordered their release subject to a condition that they would not engage in any breach of peace for one year. The leaders were produced before the Special Executive Magistrate in Delhi Cantt.

The preventive action was taken under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Section 126 deals with proceedings to prevent a possible breach of peace, while Section 170 provides for preventive arrest in specified circumstances.

The release comes amid a wider dispute over police action during protests in the national capital. Several demonstrators were detained on Saturday as opposition leaders and supporters raised concerns over electoral roll revision and demanded accountability from the Election Commission.

The detentions have also prompted legal challenges, including a plea seeking judicial intervention over the reported detention of CJP leaders and others.
