Ahmedabad, 28th Aug: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah celebrated Raksha Bandhan with girls from his parliamentary constituency who are suffering from Type-1 diabetes.
Shah said children with Type-1 diabetes require insulin injections for life, which can place a significant financial burden on their families. He highlighted the government’s initiative to provide free insulin for life to such children.
In a post on X, Shah said the initiative reflected the Modi government’s commitment to “Service, Compassion, and Security”. He also extended his greetings to the girls and wished them good health and a bright future.
Under the initiative in the Gandhinagar parliamentary constituency, children aged 0 to 18 years with Type-1 juvenile diabetes are being covered through an integrated system involving screening, diagnosis, insulin and treatment, monitoring and follow-up.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah said public service was not merely a responsibility for the Modi government but a guiding principle of compassionate governance.
He said protecting the health of daughters was essential for securing the future of families and society. Shah added that providing free insulin to girls on Raksha Bandhan symbolised the commitment to their health and protection.
