New Delhi/Reykjavik, 26th June: India organised its first-ever mango promotion events in Iceland, showcasing premium varieties and exploring new export opportunities in the Nordic country.

The events, held in Reykjavik on June 24 and Akureyri on June 25, were jointly organised by the Embassy of India in Reykjavik and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Indian Ambassador R. Ravindra highlighted the unique qualities of India’s world-renowned mango varieties and emphasised the growing potential for expanding exports to Iceland.

Officials from Iceland, including representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Icelandic Federation of Trade, said the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) could facilitate greater imports of Indian mangoes while strengthening bilateral trade.

Visitors sampled four premium Indian mango varieties—Dasheri, Chausa, Langra and Kesar—which received an enthusiastic response for their flavour, aroma and quality.

The events brought together importers, diplomats, business representatives and government officials, providing a platform to strengthen commercial ties and promote Indian agricultural products.

According to APEDA, Iceland imported mangoes worth around USD 3.3 million in 2025, with Thailand being its largest supplier. Officials believe the strong consumer demand for mangoes in smoothies, desserts and fruit salads offers significant opportunities for Indian exporters.
