Paris, 19th June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large gathering of the Indian community in Paris and highlighted the diaspora’s important role in strengthening people-to-people ties and advancing the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership.
Receiving a warm and colourful welcome from the community, the Prime Minister praised the contributions of Indians in France across various sectors and acknowledged their role in connecting India’s ideas, innovation and talent with global markets.
PM Modi noted that increasing numbers of Indian students, professionals and tourists are choosing France, and appreciated efforts to facilitate greater mobility between the two countries. He also highlighted the expansion of UPI in France, stating that it would further boost tourism and economic interactions.
Speaking about India’s development journey, the Prime Minister highlighted achievements in inclusive growth, women-led development, human-centric Artificial Intelligence and frontier technologies. He said that over the last 12 years, India has lifted 250 million people out of poverty.
He stated that trade agreements with the United Kingdom and the European Union would create new opportunities for Indian workers, farmers and innovators. Referring to India’s participation in Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice and VivaTech 2026 in Paris, PM Modi said India is emerging as a preferred global partner in technology and innovation.
Referring to his participation at the G7 Summit in Evian, the Prime Minister said India supports trust-based international partnerships where countries of the Global South are treated as equal partners. He added that India’s talent, skills and innovation are contributing to solutions for global challenges in the digital era.
Inviting the Indian diaspora to actively participate in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation, PM Modi called upon them to become partners in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The interaction reaffirmed India’s continued commitment to the welfare, engagement and well-being of its diaspora and reflected the deep-rooted people-to-people ties between India and France.
