New Delhi, 2nd Feb.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who had been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the fifth time, will not be appearing before the probe agency today for questioning in the Delhi liquor policy case.

This decision comes after Kejriwal skipped the questioning on January 19, stating that the ED’s summons were illegal and their only intention was to arrest him.

He had also refused to appear before the agency on three previous occasions.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Kejriwal, has criticized the actions of the agency, calling them politically motivated and unlawful. The party said that Prime Minister Modi’s aim is to arrest Kejriwal and overthrow the Delhi government. They have stated that they will not allow this to happen.

Kejriwal had previously been questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the case but was not made an accused by the agency. There has been speculation that Kejriwal may be arrested by the ED after his questioning.

The AAP has been preparing for this possibility and has discussed potential courses of action. They even support Kejriwal remaining as Chief Minister and carrying out his duties from jail.

The CBI alleges that liquor companies were involved in formulating the excise policy, which would have resulted in a 12% profit for them.

A liquor lobby known as the South Group is accused of paying kickbacks, some of which were allegedly given to public servants.
The ED has accused them of money laundering.

The BJP has claimed that the AAP used the proceeds from this alleged scam to fund their campaign in Gujarat, where they received 12.91% of the votes and established themselves as a national party.
