‘Meaningful Discussions Must Drive India’s Growth’: PM Modi

New Delhi, 21st July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for a productive Monsoon Session of Parliament, urging lawmakers to engage in meaningful discussions that would strengthen India’s development journey and meet the aspirations of the country’s youth.
Addressing the media ahead of the session, Modi drew a parallel between the rainy season and Parliament, saying both become beneficial when they remain proactive.
“Whether it is the monsoon or the Monsoon Session, when both are proactive, they become highly productive and contribute to the welfare of the nation. We pray that the monsoon remains proactive and the Monsoon Session remains productive.”
Highlighting India’s recent achievements, the Prime Minister said the past month had brought several milestones that had made every Indian proud.
“Over the past month, the country has achieved several milestones that have filled every Indian with pride; whether at the national level, international level or now even in space, India has witnessed moments of immense pride.”
Referring to the successful launch of Vikram-1 by private space startup Skyroot Aerospace, Modi said the achievement reflected the limitless potential of India’s youth and the success of reforms that opened the space sector to private participation.
He also cited the commissioning of a major oil refinery in Rajasthan, the establishment of India’s third semiconductor plant and the launch of the world’s longest and most powerful green hydrogen train as examples of the country’s technological and industrial progress.
On the global economic situation, the Prime Minister said the conflict in West Asia had posed a major challenge for an energy-importing country like India.
“The war in West Asia posed a major challenge for a country like India, which depends on imports to meet its energy needs; yet, despite the challenges, India continued to grow as the fastest-growing major economy in the world. This reflects India’s strength and determination.”
Calling for smooth functioning of Parliament, Modi appealed to all political parties to ensure constructive, fact-based debates.
“Smooth functioning of Parliament, meaningful discussions and a collective resolve to take the country forward are the need of the hour. This is also the aspiration of India’s youth, who are filled with ambition and want the nation to keep progressing.”
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Monsoon Session would witness constructive deliberations and bipartisan cooperation in the interest of national development.
