NEW YORK – According to the American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue forum on Thursday the X account RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was suspended briefly, it got “botted” by “misguided opponents” who allegedly tried to game the X algorithm to get the handle blocked.
The AHEAD Forum said on X said “We are back up! We got “botted” by misguided opponents who tried to game the X algorithm and get our handle blocked. A big thank you to @X @Support for the prompt response, restoring our account and clearing out the bots. Now, back to what really matters: celebrating Universal Harmony and Universal Oneness @Uni1ness’.”.
The account was briefly suspended a day ahead of Bhagwat’s event at Madison Square Garden on Friday.
The development followed New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s opposition to the RSS chief’s event.
Mamdani in a press conference said that he doesn’t support Bhagwat’s programme but added the city had no jurisdiction to cancel a “private event”.
“I don’t support the rally, but I don’t know if the city has any jurisdiction on cancelling a private event,” he said.
He stated that seeing the rise of a movement predicted to have an “exclusionary vision” is troubling.
“The vision of India that I was taught by my family and one that I grew up being very familiar with was of a pluralistic society of a secular Republic that believed in the belonging of each and every person who was from India. And it has been incredibly troubling to see the rise of a movement that is predicated on an exclusionary vision,” he added.
