Nagpur, 16th June: A 24-year-old woman, the wife of an Air Force personnel, has accused her former classmate and his associates of rape, blackmail, extortion, forced religious conversion and practices allegedly linked to black magic. Police have arrested two accused and launched a search for a cleric allegedly involved in the case.
According to the FIR, the main accused, Ayaaz Madare (26), allegedly spiked the woman’s drink during a hotel meeting on February 8, 2025. The woman alleged that after she regained consciousness, she discovered objectionable photos and videos had been recorded and were later used to blackmail her with threats of making them public and sending them to her husband.
The complainant alleged that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted and forced to pay around ₹4 lakh to the accused. A viral video, which has emerged as a key piece of evidence, allegedly shows the woman crying and pleading to be released while the accused performs certain rituals.
The woman further alleged that she was taken to Kalmeshwar on May 31, where a cleric from Tamia village in Madhya Pradesh allegedly conducted religious rituals, forced her to say “qubool hai”, declared her converted to Islam and performed her marriage with the accused against her will.
Police have registered a case under charges related to rape, repeated sexual assault, extortion, criminal intimidation, forced conversion and provisions of the anti-black magic law.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Suresh Reddy said the electronic devices seized in the case are being examined by forensic experts and will be crucial to the investigation.
“A police team has gone to another state to search for the maulana who performed the conversion. A thorough investigation is underway,” he said.
Police said efforts are continuing to trace the remaining accused and investigate all aspects of the case.
