Dehradun, April 14 –Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, School of Engineering & Computing, concluded a two-day International Symposium on “Recent Trends in Emerging Technologies 5.0”.The event featured Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, Propounder of the Needonomics School of Thought, former Vice-Chancellor (thrice), and superannuated Professor of Kurukshetra University, as the Keynote Speaker. He delivered an insightful address on “Reframing Technology with Purpose: Needonomics Path to Sustainable Progress.”
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof.(Dr.) Ritika Mehra.Pro-Vice Chancellor, The Convener and Head of the Department Dr. Rohit Goyal, introduced the Guest of honour and keynote speaker Prof M.M. Goel. Mr Aman Bansal Vice-President, Mrs Nancy Bansal,Prof Ajay Kumar VC, Prof RK Tripathi PVC were present on the occasion.
Expressing gratitude for the invitation, Prof. Goel described Chairman Mr. Sanjay Bansal is a living embodiment of ‘Jeevan-Mukti’—who, according to the ‘Anu-Gita’, through his actions stands even superior to those honored with the ‘Padma Shri’.
In his address, Prof. Goel emphasized that the era of Emerging Technologies 5.0 presents humanity with a defining choice. While technological advancements offer immense opportunities for growth and innovation, they also pose significant risks if not guided by ethical and sustainable principles.
Emphasizing the relevance of Needonomics, prof Goel noted that it offers a transformative framework for navigating modern technological complexities by promoting need-based living, ethical innovation, and ecological balance, thereby redefining progress in terms of human well-being .
He cautioned that technological progress must shift from unchecked expansion to conscious, responsible innovation aligned with human needs, values, and sustainability to build an inclusive and resilient society in the “goodness mode” of Needonomics.
Concluding his address, Prof. Goel called for a paradigm shift from greed to need, from excess to essence, and from technology-driven existence to value-driven living.
