Piyush Goyal Highlights India’s Role in Global Sustainability at CII Conclave

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, addressed the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) India Europe Business and Sustainability Conclave in New Delhi on Wednesday, underscoring India’s pivotal position as a hub of possibilities.

He emphasized that India’s aspirational outlook will contribute significantly to the growth of economic partnerships and geopolitical engagements between India and Europe.

Goyal highlighted a paradigm shift in mindset towards quality and sustainability, noting India’s active participation in global initiatives aimed at environmental preservation. He stressed India’s eco-conscious approach, boasting one of the smallest per capita emissions contributions globally, reaffirming India’s commitment to climate responsibility and sustainability.

“India is a nation that has adopted the philosophy of Reform, Perform and Transform,” said Goyal, articulating India’s 3D vision supported by democracy, demography, and demand. He outlined the government’s initiatives to promote electric vehicles and foster a circular economy, aiming to enhance global sustainability efforts.

Regarding India’s business climate, Shri Goyal emphasized the government’s efforts to create a conducive environment by reducing compliance burdens and fostering partnerships with businesses worldwide. He highlighted India’s rapid growth in e-commerce, positioning the country as an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ with the fastest-growing market in the sector.

Goyal underscored India’s global contributions through platforms like the G20 and initiatives such as the Global Biofuels Alliance and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. He reiterated India’s commitment to transparent and fair trading systems, emphasizing the government’s focus on women-led development and inclusive growth.

Looking towards the future, Goyal expressed confidence in India’s young population, envisioning a fully developed nation by 2047 while prioritizing inclusive and sustainable growth. He reiterated India’s dedication to the Paris Agreement and unlocking new energy frontiers to meet the world’s evolving needs.
