In a post on social media, Shah said the legislation represents the rightful due of India’s Nari Shakti and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implement it without delay.

“This is a change that should certainly take place for the better,” he said, calling for broad political consensus.

Government Push for Reform
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reiterated the Centre’s commitment, highlighting growing public support for women’s reservation in legislative bodies.

In a letter addressed to women across the country, Modi underlined the significance of April 14—birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar—and linked the reform to constitutional values of equality and representation.

Rajnath Singh’s Outreach
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also reached out through an open letter, noting that women across India are welcoming the move to ensure reservation in Lok Sabha and state assemblies from 2029.

He described the reform as a long-pending step toward strengthening women’s participation in governance.

Parliament Session Ahead
Parliament is scheduled to reconvene on April 16, where discussions are expected on the constitutional amendment related to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.

The push from top leadership signals renewed momentum for the legislation, which has remained pending for decades despite broad political acknowledgment of its importance.
