New Delhi, 13th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the passing of Qatar’s Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing him as a visionary leader who transformed the Gulf nation through remarkable development and prosperity.
In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister recalled meeting Sheikh Hamad during his official visit to Qatar in February 2024 and remembered him as a true friend of India.
Modi said Sheikh Hamad’s leadership played a pivotal role in shaping modern Qatar and guiding the country towards significant economic and social progress.
The Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the royal family and the people of Qatar during this period of mourning.
“We deeply mourn the passing of Father Amir of the State of Qatar, HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. A visionary leader who led Qatar to great levels of development and prosperity, we remember him also as a true friend whom I had the honour of meeting during my last visit to Qatar in February 2024,” Modi said.
He also prayed for the departed leader’s soul to rest in eternal peace while reaffirming India’s solidarity with the people of Qatar in their time of grief.
