New Delhi, 15th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to citizens across the country on the occasions of Vishu, Rongali Bihu and Poila Boishakh, marking regional New Year celebrations.

In a series of posts on social media, the Prime Minister conveyed his wishes for happiness, prosperity and well-being.

On the occasion of Vishu, celebrated in Kerala, Modi wrote, “Have a wonderful Vishu!”

Extending greetings for Rongali Bihu, the Assamese New Year festival, he said, “Rongali Bihu greetings to you all!”

For Poila Boishakh, which marks the Bengali New Year, the Prime Minister wished people saying, “Shubho Noboborsho! Best wishes on Poila Boishakh.”

These festivals signify the beginning of the New Year in different regions of India and are celebrated with traditional rituals, cultural performances and community gatherings.

While Vishu is marked with the ritual of Vishukkani and prayers for prosperity, Rongali Bihu celebrates the onset of spring with dance and music, and Poila Boishakh is observed with cultural festivities and new beginnings.
