Varanasi, 29th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began Wednesday with prayers at the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple, offering darshan and seeking blessings before launching a major day of political outreach and infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh.

Following temple rituals, Modi was seen holding a Trishul and Damru, reinforcing the spiritual symbolism of his Kashi visit.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said he prayed for the happiness, prosperity and health of all citizens while also paying respects to Maa Annapurna and Maa Ganga.

His visit included a massive 14-kilometre roadshow across key parts of Varanasi, beginning at Banaras Locomotive Works and concluding at Kashi Vishwanath Dham, with large crowds gathering throughout the route.

The Varanasi visit is being seen as a strategic blend of cultural identity and political mobilisation.

Later in the day, Modi is scheduled to travel to Hardoi to inaugurate the ambitious Ganga Expressway, a ₹36,230 crore infrastructure project spanning 594 kilometres.

The expressway is expected to dramatically reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj while boosting logistics, trade and regional economic growth across multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary reflects the BJP’s continuing strategy of combining religious heritage with high-visibility development initiatives.
