New Delhi, 30th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, with the two leaders reviewing bilateral cooperation across trade, defence, energy and critical technologies.
The conversation comes amid ongoing India-US engagement on trade and broader economic issues. Recent reporting also indicates that discussions between the two countries continue on a proposed bilateral trade agreement.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi and Trump reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation across the key sectors as well as other areas of mutual interest.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and agreed to maintain close engagement to deepen cooperation for the benefit of the people of both countries.
The partnership encompasses areas including defence, energy and critical and emerging technologies, with previous bilateral initiatives also covering sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum technology and space.
Modi and Trump also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including ongoing efforts to promote global peace and security.
The two leaders agreed to remain in touch, according to the official statement.
The conversation was also reported by Indian media as covering the continued development of bilateral ties, with Modi describing the exchange as productive.
