New Delhi, 29th April: Proceedings before the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court were repeatedly disrupted on Wednesday after an unidentified individual allegedly hacked into the court’s virtual hearing system and played pornographic videos and music during live proceedings.
The incident occurred during a Division Bench hearing led by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Karia.
According to reports, the disruption first occurred around 12:56 pm, forcing the immediate suspension of proceedings.
When the session resumed, the intruder reportedly re-entered under a suspicious username and again displayed obscene content on multiple screens, alongside a message claiming the court had been hacked.
A third disruption involving music forced the court to shut down the hearing entirely.
Chief Justice Upadhyay later directed the Registrar General to initiate action, emphasizing the need to protect the sanctity and integrity of judicial institutions.
Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma informed the court that similar disruptive incidents had affected other virtual hearings as well.
The matter has now been referred to the Delhi Police’s Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) cyber unit for investigation.
Authorities are also exploring legal remedies under the Information Technology Act, including takedown measures for any circulating recordings.
The incident has raised serious concerns over cybersecurity vulnerabilities in virtual judicial proceedings.
