New Delhi, 22nd July: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday said the Centre and States are equal partners in building a future-ready school education system, stressing that their collective success would be measured by the learning outcomes achieved and the opportunities created for every child.
Addressing the two-day Conclave of State and UT Education Ministers in New Delhi, Pradhan said the platform would strengthen Centre-State cooperation, facilitate the exchange of best practices and accelerate the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in line with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
He said the discussions would reinforce the shared commitment to creating an inclusive, high-quality and future-ready school education system while contributing to the upcoming PRAGATI review meeting to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Highlighting progress under flagship initiatives such as Samagra Shiksha, PM SHRI, NIPUN Bharat, PM POSHAN and ULLAS, Pradhan urged States and Union Territories to intensify efforts towards strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy, empowering teachers, leveraging technology and artificial intelligence, promoting innovation and ensuring the holistic development of students.
The Education Minister also called for greater emphasis on mother tongue-based education and multilingualism to improve foundational learning and educational outcomes.
Minister of State for Education and Skill Development Jayant Chaudhary underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between the Centre and States to strengthen school education and improve learning outcomes across the country.
The conclave focused on reviewing the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and advancing the shared vision of equitable, inclusive and quality school education in line with the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
During the first day, senior officials of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) made presentations on Samagra Shiksha, educational indicators across States and Union Territories, and key issues proposed for consideration under the PRAGATI framework. Education Ministers from States and UTs reaffirmed their commitment to closer Centre-State cooperation and knowledge sharing to improve educational outcomes nationwide.
