New Delhi, 20th April: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday interacted with probationary officers of the Indian Railways and Assistant Executive Engineers of the Central Engineering Service (Roads) at Rashtrapati Bhavan, urging them to uphold values of integrity and public service.
The officers included batches from 2021 to 2024 of the Central Engineering Service and 2022–23 batches of the Indian Railways.
Addressing the officers, the President said they are entering public service at a crucial phase in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
She emphasised that their decisions will directly impact the lives of millions and shape the country’s growth trajectory.
Highlighting the importance of infrastructure, Murmu said railways and highways are not just transport systems but instruments of economic expansion, social inclusion and national integration.
“When a train reaches a remote village or a highway connects distant regions, it opens new opportunities for development,” she said.
The President noted that infrastructure development reduces logistics costs, boosts trade, attracts investment and enhances productivity, while also strengthening national unity.
She stressed that success should not be measured by numbers alone, but by how policies and projects improve people’s lives.
Murmu urged officers to remain committed to values such as integrity, accountability and excellence, especially during challenging decisions.
She also encouraged continuous learning and innovation, calling them “enablers of progress and guardians of public trust.”
