New Delhi, 20th April: India and the South Korea on Monday announced a wide-ranging set of agreements and initiatives aimed at strengthening their Special Strategic Partnership during the state visit of the Korean President.

Strategic Vision and Key Frameworks
The two countries unveiled a Joint Strategic Vision to deepen cooperation across sectors, along with a comprehensive framework for partnership in shipbuilding, shipping and maritime logistics.

Joint statements were also issued on sustainability and energy resource security, highlighting a shared focus on long-term resilience and green growth.

Major Agreements Signed
A series of MoUs and frameworks were signed covering diverse sectors including ports, steel supply chains, small and medium enterprises, science and technology, climate cooperation, and digital connectivity.

Notably, both sides agreed to resume negotiations to upgrade the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signalling a push to enhance bilateral trade.

Agreements were also signed in areas such as financial cooperation, digital payments, cultural exchange, sports and creative industries.

New Initiatives and Dialogues
Among key announcements, the two nations launched an Economic Security Dialogue and a structured dialogue on global themes such as climate change, maritime cooperation and Arctic issues.

South Korea also joined initiatives like the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative and the International Solar Alliance, while India will become part of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

Future Roadmap
Both countries announced that 2028–29 will be commemorated as the Year of India–South Korea Friendship, reflecting a long-term commitment to deepening ties.

Officials said the outcomes of the visit are expected to significantly enhance cooperation in trade, technology, sustainability and strategic sectors.
