Churu, 22nd April: Om Birla on Wednesday said that the land of Rajasthan has always been a symbol of valor, dedication, and patriotism, while addressing a ceremony to unveil the statue of Sagat Singh Rathore in Churu.
Paying tribute to the former Army officer, Birla described his life as an example of courage, leadership, and service to the nation. He recalled Sagat Singh’s role in key military operations, including his contributions during World War II, the Goa Liberation Movement, and the 1971 war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.
He also referred to the officer’s leadership at the Nathu La border, stating that his decisions helped strengthen India’s frontiers.
Highlighting Rajasthan’s legacy, the Lok Sabha Speaker said the state’s history reflects a deep-rooted commitment to national service, with many families contributing to the armed forces.
Birla said the statue serves not only as a memorial but also as a source of inspiration for future generations. He urged youth to draw lessons from Sagat Singh’s life and work towards nation-building with dedication and determination.
Among those present at the event were Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Union Minister of State Bhagirath Choudhary.
