New Delhi, 22nd April: Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Wednesday released revised guidelines for the Technology Development and Investment Promotion (TDIP) Scheme, aimed at strengthening India’s position in global telecom standardization and advancing indigenous technology development.

The scheme, with an outlay of ₹203 crore for 2026–31, seeks to enhance India’s participation in international telecom bodies such as the International Telecommunication Union, 3GPP and oneM2M, enabling Indian stakeholders to contribute to global standards and leadership roles.

The initiative focuses on next-generation technologies, including 5G Advanced and 6G, and aims to position India as a key player in shaping future telecom frameworks.

The revised guidelines expand the scope of the scheme to include startups, MSMEs, academia, research institutions and industry stakeholders. It also provides support for pilot projects, proof-of-concept initiatives and technology demonstrations to facilitate real-world deployment.

The scheme will be implemented through agencies such as the Telecommunications Standards Development Society India, Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCoE) and Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL), which will coordinate participation and capacity building.

The government said the initiative will help promote investment, create intellectual property and improve the global competitiveness of Indian telecom products.

The TDIP scheme complements existing initiatives such as the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) and the Bharat 6G Mission, forming a broader framework for telecom research, development and deployment.

Minister of State Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani and Telecom Secretary Amit Agrawal were present at the event.
