New Delhi, 29th June: Seven newly elected and re-elected members of the Rajya Sabha were administered the oath of office by Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan in the Rajya Sabha Chamber at Parliament House on Monday.
The members who took oath were Mansingh Meraman Parmar, Tarun Chugh, Dr. Alka Singh, Jitendra Meghjibhai Kanzariya, Rajendra Hiralal Jain, M. Nagaraja and Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi.
Four members took the oath in Hindi, while one each took oath in Kannada, Punjabi and Manipuri. Of the seven members, two represent Gujarat, while one each represents Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur and Rajasthan.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Leader of the House J.P. Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Rajya Sabha members Jairam Ramesh and Praful Patel, along with Rajya Sabha Secretary General P.C. Mody and senior officials of the Secretariat.
