Sharing his experience in a series of posts on X, Modi said offering prayers to Lord Shiva during the 75th anniversary celebrations of the rebuilt Somnath Temple was a spiritually uplifting experience.

“To be praying to Mahadev on the special occasion marking 75 years since the rebuilt Somnath Temple opened its doors is an experience I’ll never forget,” the Prime Minister said.

The rituals were performed as part of the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav commemorating 75 years since the reconstructed temple was inaugurated in 1951.

The Somnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva, is regarded as a major symbol of India’s spiritual and civilisational heritage.

The Prime Minister said the sacred atmosphere of Somnath and the devotion of pilgrims had deeply moved him.

In his Hindi post on X, Modi said the opportunity to perform Mahapuja and Kumbhabhishek at the holy land of Somnath while remembering “Janata Janardan” was spiritually overwhelming.
