Nashik, Mumbai, 23rd April: The alleged sexual harassment and religious coercion case at the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services has widened, with multiple victims detailing instances of misconduct and workplace intimidation.

One of the complainants, in her statement before the state Women’s Commission, alleged repeated mental harassment and inappropriate conduct by an accused employee, identified as Raza Rafiq Memon. She claimed that she was subjected to obscene conversations and behaviour during her training period and that her concerns were ignored when raised with management.

The victim also alleged that sensitive workplace systems were handled unprofessionally, including the use of inappropriate language in internal credentials, pointing to a broader culture issue within the unit.

Police said the case first surfaced after a woman accused a colleague, Danish Sheikh, of establishing a relationship with her on the promise of marriage, despite being already married. The complaint further alleged concealment of facts and harassment linked to religious identity.

Investigations revealed that other accused, including Tausif Attar and others, allegedly engaged in digital stalking and spreading rumours about the complainant. Another accused, Nida Khan, who is currently absconding, has been named in a case involving alleged derogatory remarks and pressure related to religion.

As the probe progressed, several more women came forward with complaints of harassment, stating that their grievances were not addressed by the human resources department. A male employee has also filed a complaint alleging an attempt at religious coercion at the workplace.

Police have so far arrested seven employees, including six men and the unit’s HR head, Ashwini Chainani. Authorities said the accused have been suspended and further investigation is underway.

The incidents span a period between 2022 and 2026, with officials examining patterns of behaviour and institutional response within the organisation.
