New Delhi, 9th Sept: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to discharge the functions of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir during the absence, on leave, of incumbent LG Manoj Sinha.
According to a communication from the President’s Secretariat, Saxena will perform the functions of the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor in addition to his existing duties as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
The arrangement will continue for the period of Sinha’s absence. Sinha has been serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir since August 2020. Reports said he is currently on an official visit to the United States.
Saxena, a former Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, took oath as the fourth Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh in March 2026, succeeding Kavinder Gupta. The Ladakh administration said he brings more than three decades of experience in the corporate and social sectors.
The additional-charge arrangement ensures continuity in the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor’s office during Sinha’s leave.
