New Delhi, 13th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid heartfelt homage to the martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, calling their sacrifice a lasting reminder of the indomitable spirit of the Indian people.
In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister said the courage and determination displayed by those who laid down their lives continue to inspire generations to uphold the values of liberty, justice, and dignity.
Message on Nation-Building
Alongside his tribute, Modi shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam, emphasising the importance of nurturing constructive and benevolent forces within society that contribute to national prosperity, awareness, and self-reliance.
He also called for resisting divisive and destructive elements that create injustice and discontent.
Enduring Legacy
Referring to the tragic events of 1919, the Prime Minister said the martyrs’ sacrifice remains a powerful symbol of resistance against colonial oppression and continues to shape India’s collective consciousness.
He paid tribute in multiple languages, reflecting the nationwide reverence for the victims of one of the darkest chapters of India’s freedom struggle.
The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, in which hundreds of unarmed civilians were killed, remains a defining moment in India’s fight for independence.
