New Delhi, 19th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the demise of veteran writer, thinker and public intellectual Balbir Punj, recalling his wide-ranging contributions to media and public life.
In a message on X, the Prime Minister described Punj as a “prolific writer” whose work reflected a deep commitment to national regeneration.
Modi said Balbir Punj’s writings were widely read and appreciated for their depth and clarity. He also noted that Punj’s interventions in Parliament were marked by strong factual grounding and intellectual rigor.
The Prime Minister highlighted Punj’s contribution to strengthening the BJP, particularly among students, professionals and intellectuals. He also recalled his role as party in-charge in several states, including Gujarat.
“Fondly remember our interactions from those times. Pained by his passing,” Modi said, extending condolences to his family and friends.
