Kalaburagi, 22nd April: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday addressed the 10th convocation ceremony of Central University of Karnataka, calling upon graduates to contribute actively to nation-building.

Congratulating students, the Vice President said they are entering a new phase with the responsibility to serve society and the nation. He described India as being at a defining moment and referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” as a shared national mission requiring collective effort.

He urged the youth to innovate, uphold integrity, and remain committed to national development. Emphasising self-reliance, he said the vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat rests on strengthening domestic capabilities, fostering innovation, and remaining globally competitive.

Highlighting women’s role in academia, Radhakrishnan noted that women are consistently leading in academic achievements. He pointed out that more than 80 per cent of gold medalists at the university this year are women, describing it as a reflection of rising “Nari Shakti” and broader social transformation.

The Vice President said graduates must prepare for global challenges, including climate change, technological shifts, and social inequalities. He stressed that success should be defined by societal contribution rather than personal gain.

He also called on students to stay rooted in India’s cultural and intellectual heritage while embracing modernity and a global outlook.

Appreciating parents, faculty, and the university administration, he acknowledged their role in shaping future citizens. He urged graduates to remain resilient, learn from setbacks, and contribute meaningfully to building a developed and self-reliant India.

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Satya Narayana were also present at the ceremony.
