New Delhi, 23rd April: Om Birla on Thursday emphasised that education must go beyond employment and serve as a tool for social responsibility, inclusivity and character-building, while addressing students at multiple institutions in the national capital.

Speaking at the Annual Day ceremony of Kirori Mal College, Birla said that true progress is meaningful only when development reaches the last person in society. He urged students to align their aspirations with national goals and actively participate in democratic processes.

Highlighting the evolving education landscape, he said the National Education Policy 2020 is transforming learning by promoting critical thinking and academic flexibility. He stressed that knowledge must be complemented by values such as integrity and perseverance.

Birla also appreciated the college’s inclusive initiatives, particularly efforts to empower visually impaired students through technology and skill development, calling it a step towards equitable education.

Addressing students at Maharaja Agrasen College, the Lok Sabha Speaker said the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” can be achieved through the innovation and commitment of youth. He encouraged students to contribute to governance and policymaking, strengthening democratic institutions.

He described India’s youth as confident and globally competitive, noting their growing role in innovation, research and entrepreneurship.

Earlier, at Delhi Public School Mathura Road, Birla highlighted the importance of innovation, original thinking and discipline in a rapidly changing world. He said building a developed and self-reliant India requires collective effort and active participation from young citizens.
