Pune, 13th May: A trainer aircraft operated by Redbird Flight Training Academy crash landed near Baramati in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Wednesday morning after reportedly developing a technical malfunction.

Police said the trainee pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, escaped safely and no serious injuries were reported in the incident near Gojubavi village adjoining the Baramati airstrip area.

Pune Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill said the accident took place around 8.50 am.

According to preliminary information gathered from witnesses, the aircraft was flying at a comparatively low altitude when it encountered technical problems.

“During the crash landing, one side of the aircraft reportedly hit an electric pole before it struck the ground,” Gill said.

Officials said emergency teams rushed to the spot soon after the crash landing.

The incident occurred in the same village area where a plane crash involving senior Maharashtra politician Ajit Pawar had taken place earlier this year.

Authorities have begun further investigation into the cause of the malfunction and crash landing.
