Tamil Nadu ,June 4: (DMK) announced  that it will boycott the upcoming INDIA bloc meeting scheduled for June 8 at the Constitution Club, New Delhi. The decision follows the Congress party’s post-election move in Tamil Nadu, where it severed ties with the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and joined the coalition government led by the Thol. Thirumavalavan-led Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (TVK).In a strong statement, DMK expressed deep hurt among its cadres due to what it called Congress’s “betrayal.”

The party highlighted its consistent opposition to policies threatening democracy, secularism, and state rights, such as NEET, delimitation, the Special Intensive Revision exercise during elections, ‘One Nation, One Election,’ and amendments to the Waqf and FCRA laws.DMK president M.K. Stalin has been a prominent voice in the INDIA bloc, which the party claims to be its central force.

The boycott is meant to honor the sentiments of DMK workers, though the party reaffirmed its commitment to broader Opposition solidarity on national issues.Despite the boycott announcement, the All India Congress Committee’s Tamil Nadu in-charge, Girish Chodankar, stated on June 2 that DMK remains part of the INDIA bloc.
