New Delhi, 7th June: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday said India’s youth constitute the nation’s greatest strength and will play a central role in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Addressing the “Youth for Viksit Bharat: MY Bharat Youth Convention” at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi, Mandaviya said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned a developed India shaped by the ideas, innovation and aspirations of young Indians.
The convention brought together more than 6,000 participants from across the country, including students, entrepreneurs, content creators, professionals, innovators, young women and emerging leaders.
“India’s youth are our strength, our pride, our resolve and our future. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unprecedented opportunities have been created for young Indians to innovate, excel and contribute to nation-building,” Mandaviya said.
Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, the minister noted that nearly 65 per cent of the country’s population is below the age of 35, making youth participation critical to the country’s future growth.
He also lauded the initiatives of MY Bharat for nurturing leadership and encouraging young people to contribute actively to nation-building. Mandaviya further praised the platform’s recent Guinness World Record achievement and urged youth to engage in volunteer programmes and developmental initiatives.
“The time belongs to the youth. Together, we must build a competitive, confident and self-reliant India that fulfills the dreams of 140 crore citizens,” he said.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also addressed the gathering, said India’s youth are poised to take the country to greater heights through their talent, determination and hard work.
She described young Indians as hardworking, visionary, creative and courageous, adding that every achievement by a young citizen strengthens India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
“Excellence in any field is built on perseverance, discipline and dedication,” Gupta said while commending the accomplishments of youth across sports, entrepreneurship, content creation, arts and public service.
The convention also featured interactions with prominent personalities including actor Vikrant Massey, entrepreneur Aman Gupta, singer and MLA Maithili Thakur, and Indian cricketer Jitesh Sharma.
Vikrant Massey highlighted the rapid growth of India’s creator economy and the opportunities generated through digital empowerment, while Aman Gupta spoke about India’s emergence as a global startup hub.
Jitesh Sharma shared his experiences under the theme “Play in India, Play for India,” encouraging young athletes to pursue excellence in sports.
The event also honoured distinguished sportspersons for their contributions to Indian sports and featured discussions on youth leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation and national development.
The convention concluded with the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp”, reaffirming the commitment of young citizens to contribute towards building a developed, self-reliant and inclusive India by the centenary of Independence in 2047.
