New Delhi, 9th June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, during which the two leaders discussed the evolving security situation in West Asia amid escalating regional tensions.

According to an official statement, the leaders exchanged views on recent developments in the region and the growing security challenges facing several countries in West Asia.

Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and reaffirmed India’s strong condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He reiterated India’s consistent position that differences should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy and stressed the need for immediate de-escalation to restore peace and stability in the region.

The Prime Minister emphasized that maintaining regional stability remains crucial for global peace, security and economic well-being.

During the conversation, Modi also thanked the Amir of Kuwait for his personal attention towards the well-being and safety of the large Indian community residing in the Gulf nation.

India and Kuwait share close bilateral ties, with a significant Indian diaspora contributing to various sectors of Kuwait’s economy. The safety and welfare of Indian nationals in the region have remained a key priority amid the ongoing security challenges in West Asia.

The conversation comes as India continues diplomatic engagement with regional leaders while advocating peaceful resolution of conflicts and protection of civilian populations.
