New Delhi, 27th June: Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday urged Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to embrace technology and artificial intelligence as opportunities rather than threats, saying innovation, quality and technology adoption are essential for the sector’s long-term success and India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Addressing the International MSME Day 2026 celebrations at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, the Vice-President described MSMEs as the backbone of India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, representing the aspirations of first-generation entrepreneurs, women and young innovators.

Sharing his own entrepreneurial journey, Radhakrishnan recalled starting a garment business after graduation and said perseverance, continuous learning and hard work enabled him to build a successful export enterprise. He encouraged young entrepreneurs to overcome initial challenges through dedication and skill development.

Stressing that quality should never be compromised, he said businesses must focus on reducing costs while maintaining superior products and services to remain globally competitive. He also urged every micro enterprise to aspire to become a small enterprise and every small enterprise to grow into a medium enterprise with adequate policy support and access to finance.

The Vice-President called for universal MSME registration to improve policymaking and data quality, while appreciating the government’s efforts to formalise the sector, expand institutional credit and promote technology adoption.

On the occasion, he launched a series of digital initiatives, including the PMEGP 2.0 Portal, Samadhaan 2.0 Portal, Procurement and Marketing Support (PMS) 2.0 Portal, MSME Global Mart 2.0 Portal, MSME Testing Portal, MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0, and the Ministry of MSME’s multilingual digital platform.

He also released e-books on the Self-Reliant India (SRI) Fund and PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched new products developed by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), and felicitated the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) on its elevation to Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise.
