Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan Says Mookerjee's Sacrifice for National Unity Continues to Inspire Generations

New Delhi, 6th July: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Monday paid floral tributes to Syama Prasad Mookerjee at the Vice President’s House on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary, describing him as a visionary statesman and a steadfast champion of national unity.

Paying homage, the Vice President said Dr. Mookerjee sacrificed his life for the unity of the nation and that such sacrifices would never go unheeded. He said Mookerjee envisioned an India where every citizen was equal under a single constitutional framework.

Radhakrishnan said the abrogation of Article 370 was a tribute to Dr. Mookerjee’s lifelong commitment to the full integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India.

In a social media post, the Vice President described Dr. Mookerjee as a distinguished educationist, nation-builder and founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, recalling his contributions as one of the youngest Vice-Chancellors of the University of Calcutta, a member of the Constituent Assembly and Independent India’s first Minister for Industry and Supply.

He said Dr. Mookerjee’s life and ideals continue to inspire generations in building a strong, united, self-reliant and developed India.
