EC Begins Nomination Process for Assembly Bypolls in Three States
Polling on July 30 for Seats in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Bihar; Counting on August 3

New Delhi, 6th July: The Election Commission of India on Monday issued notifications for by-elections to three Assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Bihar, formally commencing the nomination process.
The bypolls will be held for Datia (Madhya Pradesh), Manjalpur (Gujarat) and Bankipur (Bihar). The last date for filing nominations is July 13, scrutiny will take place on July 14, while candidates can withdraw nominations until July 16.
Voting, if required, will be conducted on July 30 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and counting of votes will take place on August 3, with the election process to be completed by August 4.
The Commission also directed the concerned states to ensure compliance with provisions relating to paid holidays for eligible voters under the Representation of the People Act, 1951. It said daily wage and casual workers, including those employed outside their constituency but registered as voters there, will also be entitled to paid leave on polling day.
The ECI further instructed the states to enforce dry days during the 48-hour period before polling and on the day of counting, August 3, in accordance with election laws.
