Piyush Goyal to Lead 200-Member Business Delegation to Japan
Four-day visit to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka to boost India-Japan trade and investment ties

New Delhi, 23rd Aug: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will lead India’s largest-ever business delegation to Japan during his four-day visit from August 24 to 27, aimed at strengthening India-Japan trade and investment ties.
Goyal will travel to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka with more than 200 business representatives from sectors including manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automobiles, financial services, healthcare and startups.
The visit comes as India and Japan seek to expand their Special Strategic and Global Partnership through greater trade, investment and industrial cooperation.
Engagements in Tokyo
In Tokyo, Goyal is scheduled to meet senior leaders of major Japanese conglomerates and industrial groups. He will also participate in a round-table with Keidanren, Japan’s apex business federation representing more than 1,500 companies.
Dedicated discussions will focus on semiconductors and artificial intelligence, startups and foreign institutional investment.
The Minister will also hold bilateral talks with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Akazawa Ryosei and meet senior members of the Japanese government and Parliament.
Focus on manufacturing in Nagoya
In Nagoya, a major manufacturing hub in central Japan, Goyal will lead a business roadshow with the Central Japan Economic Federation (Chukeiren) and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He is also scheduled to engage with Aichi Prefecture leaders and major Japanese investors from the automotive and steel sectors.
The delegation will conclude its visit in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow, alongside meetings with Japanese companies operating in electronics, industrial and consumer sectors.
The discussions are expected to showcase opportunities in India’s manufacturing, clean energy and consumer markets.
Japan has been a key partner for India in investment, technology and industrial cooperation, with Japanese companies having a significant presence in India’s automotive, steel, electronics, financial services and infrastructure sectors.
The government said the expanded business delegation is expected to create fresh opportunities in high-technology manufacturing and next-generation industries, supporting India’s goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047.
