Hyderabad, 23rd Aug: Five people were injured after a sound and lighting system collapsed during the pre-release event of actor Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad on Saturday evening.
Thousands of fans and students had gathered at the university for the event. The large crowd prompted police personnel to repeatedly ask attendees to move away from the stage amid concerns over overcrowding.
Videos from the venue showed several young attendees climbing onto structures around the event area.
The incident occurred while Yash was addressing the gathering. The sound and lighting structure suddenly collapsed, following which the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. One person was reportedly briefly unconscious.
After being informed about the incident, Yash immediately paused his address and asked whether everyone was safe.
“Hey, careful. Is everything okay there? Is everyone safe?” the actor asked the crowd.
He subsequently asked the organisers and authorities to check on the injured attendees, urging students to remain cautious. Yash resumed his speech after being informed that the situation was under control.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups is scheduled to release on August 26 in Kannada, English, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.
The film features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles alongside Yash.
The film has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
