India, Mauritius Discuss Stronger Co-op in Public Service

• India and Mauritius explore stronger institutional links in public administration.

New Delhi, 24th Aug: Mauritius Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms Lutchmanah Raj Pentiah met Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in New Delhi on Monday to discuss strengthening cooperation between India and Mauritius in public administration, training and capacity building.

Dr Jitendra Singh said the two countries share deep historical and people-to-people ties, making public administration and capacity building natural areas for expanded cooperation.

The meeting discussed the ongoing initiative to train 500 Mauritian civil servants over five years through the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG). The first batch has already begun training in Mussoorie.

Both sides also explored stronger institutional linkages between Mauritius’ Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service and Innovation (ABVIPSI) and Indian institutions including LBSNAA, IIPA and ISTM.

Dr Singh highlighted India’s experience under Mission Karmayogi, particularly continuous, role-based and competency-driven learning for public servants. The recently operationalised iGOT Karmayogi Mauritius platform was also discussed as a foundation for sustained digital learning.

Pentiah welcomed India’s support and sought further assistance in developing ABVIPSI as a centre of excellence for public service learning and innovation in the Indian Ocean and Eastern African region.

The two sides also discussed cooperation in emerging areas including the Blue Economy, ocean technologies, fisheries, desalination and sustainable development, with emphasis on specialised training and knowledge exchange.
