DRI Seizes Over 18 Kg Amphetamine, MDMA
Amphetamine and MDMA seized in Bengaluru and Pune operations; agency intercepts 150 kg ATS in fortnight

New Delhi, 29th Aug: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized more than 18 kg of Amphetamine and MDMA in two intelligence-led operations in Bengaluru and Pune and arrested four persons under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The operations were conducted on August 25 as part of the agency’s intensified crackdown on the trafficking of synthetic drugs.
In Bengaluru, DRI officers intercepted an Indian woman passenger at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station who was travelling from New Delhi to Bengaluru by train. A detailed examination of her baggage led to the recovery of seven packets containing a crystalline substance weighing approximately 14.9 kg.
Preliminary testing using a field drug detection kit indicated the presence of Amphetamine. The substance and related packing and concealment material were seized under the NDPS Act.
Based on information gathered during the operation, DRI officials conducted a follow-up action at the designated delivery location. A person who arrived to receive the baggage was intercepted, followed by another person who came to receive the contraband from the first receiver.
All three persons involved in the transportation and attempted receipt of the consignment were arrested under the NDPS Act.
In a separate operation the same day, DRI intercepted another Indian woman passenger at Pune Junction railway station. She was travelling from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi via Pune.
A search of her baggage resulted in the recovery of a white/yellow crystalline substance purported to be Amphetamine weighing approximately 2.53 kg, along with purported MDMA tablets weighing 878 grams gross.
The contraband was seized under the NDPS Act and the passenger was arrested.
The latest seizures are part of DRI’s broader efforts to intercept synthetic drugs and dismantle trafficking networks operating across the country.
According to the DRI, it has seized around 150 kg of Amphetamine Type Stimulant (ATS) class drugs in five operations over a fortnight.
The seizures include 76 kg of Methamphetamine tablets in two operations along India’s north-eastern frontier and 55.86 kg of Methamphetamine concealed by mixing it with maize/corn in an export consignment destined for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
