New Delhi, 16th Oct: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Abhijeet Dipke and All India Students’ Association (AISA) chief Neha Bohra were detained by Delhi Police on Friday while heading towards Connaught Place to participate in the ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ protest.
Dipke was picked up from his residence in Jhandewalan, while Bohra was detained in the Mandi House area, both in Central Delhi. Their detention drew attention amid scenes of jostling crowds, camera crews and a heavy deployment of security personnel.
Earlier in the day, more than 20 Delhi Police personnel visited Dipke’s residence and served him a notice directing him to refrain from any action that could prejudice the rights of citizens, traders, commuters, patients and others.
The police action came as security arrangements were stepped up across the national capital ahead of the protest scheduled for Friday evening. The detentions added to tensions surrounding the planned demonstration in the Connaught Place area.
