Nadda inaugurated the 14th edition of India Chem 2026 in Mumbai on Thursday, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, investors and international stakeholders to explore growth opportunities in the chemicals and petrochemicals sector.

Addressing the gathering, Nadda said the government was creating a conducive environment for the industry and described the BHAVYA Rasayan Scheme as a potential game changer. He highlighted connectivity to ports, railways, airports and roads, along with integrated value chains, as key factors in developing globally competitive chemical manufacturing hubs.

The three-day event, organised by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals in partnership with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), is being held under the theme “Advantage Bharat: An Emerging Global Chemicals Hub.”

In his message to the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said improvements in ease of doing business and India’s expanding network of free trade agreements were opening new avenues for investment and access to international markets. He expressed confidence that Indian manufacturers would strengthen their presence in global supply chains.

The Prime Minister also said the event would encourage meaningful discussions and partnerships supporting the long-term development of the chemical sector.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted investment opportunities in their respective states. Fadnavis noted the industry’s employment contribution in Maharashtra and said the state was preparing a forward-looking, investor-friendly policy.

Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel urged industry leaders and state governments to work together to implement the BHAVYA initiative, which includes plans for three dedicated chemical parks under the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna.

The exhibition at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, showcases products, technologies, equipment and services across chemicals, petrochemicals and process plant machinery. The event also features the India Chem Youth Innovation Challenge to encourage practical, research-based solutions from young innovators.

Japan is the partner country for this edition, while Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are partner states. The event is expected to host more than 200 Indian and international exhibitors, over 8,000 business visitors and 50 leading CEOs.

India’s chemical industry is projected to reach $300 billion by 2030 and $1 trillion by 2040, supported by domestic demand, export opportunities and government initiatives.
