New Delhi, 22nd Aug: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a one-month nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public office.
The campaign will commemorate the milestone of Modi taking oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, before subsequently serving as Prime Minister of India.
The announcement followed deliberations at the BJP headquarters involving the party’s newly appointed national office-bearers, state presidents, organisational general secretaries and other senior leaders.
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde said the party would undertake service-oriented programmes across the country during the campaign.
Focus on Public Service
The campaign will include outreach programmes involving Anganwadi workers, who will be honoured for their role in delivering nutrition and government welfare schemes at the grassroots level.
The BJP will also launch ‘Seva Mein Mera Yogdan’, encouraging citizens, particularly young people, to participate in activities such as cleanliness drives, plantation programmes and other welfare initiatives.
The party plans to encourage participants to share their contributions on social media to promote wider public participation.
The campaign forms part of the BJP’s broader ‘Modi@25’ programme, which will highlight Modi’s 25 years of continuous service in executive office.
BJP Plans Vande Mataram Campaign
The BJP also passed a political resolution opposing the Congress Working Committee’s decision to retain its position of singing only the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram at Congress programmes.
The party described Vande Mataram as a symbol of India’s freedom struggle and national consciousness and said it would launch a nationwide awareness campaign highlighting the song’s history and significance.
The BJP said the campaign would particularly focus on educating younger generations about the role of Vande Mataram in India’s freedom movement.
