C-DOT Marks 43rd Foundation Day

New Delhi, 25th Aug: Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Minister of State for Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani attended the 43rd Foundation Day celebrations of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) in New Delhi on Monday.
The event highlighted C-DOT’s contribution to India’s indigenous telecommunications capabilities and its ongoing work in 6G, cybersecurity and quantum-secure communications.
Scindia said India had moved from being behind the world in 4G to keeping pace in 5G and expressed confidence that organisations such as C-DOT could help India lead globally in 6G.
The Minister also commended C-DOT’s young workforce, noting that more than half of its employees are below 30 years of age. He called upon young scientists and researchers to continue driving innovation and technological self-reliance.
At the event, the ministers inaugurated an exhibition showcasing C-DOT’s indigenous telecom solutions and unveiled its Quantum Products Wall, featuring Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) technologies.
A booklet detailing C-DOT’s indigenous quantum-security solutions was also released.
Dr. Pemmasani described C-DOT as a symbol of Indian technological self-reliance and praised its researchers, engineers and scientists for their contribution to the nation’s telecom capabilities.
The celebrations featured a conference titled “Beyond Connectivity: Secure, Trusted and Intelligent Communication”, with discussions on cybersecurity, 6G communications and quantum-secure networks.
C-DOT CEO Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay said the organisation would continue developing indigenous technologies in emerging areas while strengthening India’s position in secure and globally competitive telecommunications.
Established in 1984, C-DOT has contributed to rural connectivity, BharatNet, 4G and 5G technologies, cybersecurity, disaster management and next-generation networks. Its current research focus includes 6G, artificial intelligence and quantum-secure communications.
