Bhopal, 18th May: CCTV footage linked to the death of Twisha Sharma has surfaced, showing the 33-year-old climbing the staircase at her marital home in Bhopal shortly before she was found dead on May 12.
The video also allegedly shows at least three men, including her husband Samarth Singh, attempting CPR twice before carrying her body downstairs. Twisha’s mother-in-law Giribala Singh is also seen in the footage.
Twisha was found dead at her husband’s residence in the Katara Hills area. Samarth Singh, a lawyer, is currently absconding.
Police have registered a case of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide against Samarth Singh and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh.
The couple reportedly met through a dating application in 2024 and married in December 2025.
The investigation took a fresh turn after details from a bail application filed on behalf of Samarth Singh claimed that Twisha was allegedly undergoing psychiatric treatment and had issues related to narcotic substance use.
The bail plea stated that she became irritable and developed trembling hands when she did not have access to narcotic substances.
It also alleged that she had travelled to Delhi on April 17 and remained untraceable for several hours before reaching her parents’ residence the next day.
The application further claimed that her behaviour towards her in-laws changed after she became pregnant.
A local court had earlier granted anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh, while the court on Monday reserved its order on Samarth Singh’s bail plea.
A Special Investigation Team headed by Rajneesh Kashyap is probing the case.
Kashyap said the SIT was examining the allegations strictly on the basis of the FIR and efforts were underway to trace Samarth Singh.
According to the preliminary post-mortem report from AIIMS Bhopal, the cause of death was hanging.
The case has triggered widespread attention after Twisha’s family alleged dowry harassment and demanded a deeper investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
