New Delhi, 16th June: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that reports claiming the Government of India is actively pursuing a deep-sea energy pipeline, referred to as the Middle East-India Deepwater Pipeline (MEIDP), are incorrect.

The Ministry stated that no such proposal is currently under consideration and that there are no active discussions or negotiations with Oman or any other Gulf countries regarding the project.

The clarification was issued in response to media reports suggesting that the proposed deepwater pipeline would connect Gujarat with Oman and other Gulf nations.

The Ministry said the statement was released to put all speculation regarding the reported project to rest.
