Berlin, 22nd April: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday interacted with the Indian diaspora in Berlin, describing them as the “strongest bridge” between India and Germany and urging them to play a greater role in strengthening bilateral ties.
Addressing members of the nearly 300,000-strong Indian community in Germany, Singh praised their contributions across sectors such as business, technology, healthcare, academia and the arts.
The Defence Minister emphasised that the Indian diaspora serves as a vital connector between the two nations, helping deepen economic and cultural engagement.
He urged them to actively promote India’s perspective globally and contribute to expanding India-Germany relations.
Highlighting that 2026 marks 75 years of diplomatic ties between India and Germany, Singh said the partnership is built on trust, mutual respect and shared democratic values.
Singh noted that India’s voice on global platforms has gained prominence, adding that the country’s growing influence is being widely recognised.
He also spoke about India’s rapid economic growth and advancements in infrastructure, startups, space and digital innovation.
The Defence Minister underlined the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Singh assured continued support and security to Indians living abroad.
He termed the interaction a “special moment” and thanked the community for their warm welcome.
