Auckland, 22nd June:
The Hindu Council of New Zealand (HCNZ) proudly announced the launch of the Hindu Professionals Association of New Zealand (HPANZ) during its Annual General Meeting, marking a significant milestone in strengthening professional networking, leadership development, and community engagement among Hindu professionals across the country.
The launch of HPANZ was originally planned during the 6th New Zealand National Hindu Conference, held on 16 May 2026 in Auckland. However, due to time constraints within the conference programme, the formal launch could not take place on that occasion. With the blessings and support of Hindu elders and community leaders, HPANZ was officially launched at the HCNZ Annual General Meeting. Nevertheless, the establishment of HPANZ is regarded as one of the major outcomes of the 6th New Zealand National Hindu Conference.
The newly established association aims to bring together professionals from diverse sectors, including healthcare, education, engineering, information technology, law, business, finance, public service, and academia. HPANZ will serve as a platform for collaboration, mentoring, knowledge-sharing, professional development, and community service.
Speaking at the launch, HCNZ representatives highlighted the growing contribution of Hindu professionals to New Zealand’s economic, social, and cultural development. They noted that while Hindu professionals are making significant contributions across a wide range of fields, there is a need for a dedicated platform to foster connections, promote leadership opportunities, and support the next generation of professionals.
“The Hindu Professionals Association of NZ will provide a forum where professionals can connect, collaborate, and contribute not only to their respective industries but also to the wider community. It will strengthen professional networks, encourage innovation, and promote service-oriented leadership,” said Dr Guna Magesan, President, Hindu Council of New Zealand.
The association will focus on several key objectives:
- Building a nationwide network of Hindu professionals.
- Supporting career growth and leadership development.
- Facilitating mentoring opportunities for students and emerging professionals.
- Promoting professional excellence and ethical leadership.
- Encouraging community service and civic participation.
- Creating opportunities for dialogue with government agencies, industry bodies, and community organisations.
“The launch of HPANZ reflects HCNZ’s ongoing commitment to empowering various segments of the Hindu community through specialised service divisions and initiatives. The association is expected to organise conferences, networking events, seminars, professional development workshops, and community outreach programmes throughout New Zealand,” said Dr Vinay Karanam, Joint General Secretary of the Hindu Council of New Zealand.
First HPANZ Event: Cyber Security and Physical Security Seminar
The first event organised under HPANZ is a seminar titled “Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Physical Security – A Case Study on VVIP Visits to New Zealand”, will be held soon in Auckland.
This timely and highly relevant seminar will explore the critical aspects of cyber security, data privacy and physical security in the context of organising and managing high-profile international visits. The seminar will provide valuable insights into the preparedness and responsibilities of organisers, service providers, and volunteers involved in major public events.
The programme will feature two presentations:
- Importance of Cyber Security – A Case Study from the VVIP visits to New Zealand, by Dr Vinay Karanam, CEO Kinetriq AI and Joint General Secretary, Hindu Council of New Zealand.
- Importance of Physical Security: A Comparison Between External Security Agencies and Internal Volunteer Teams, by Bhumit Patel, Director, Ten Seven Security Services.
The seminar will conclude with an interactive question-and-answer session, moderated by Murali Krishna Magesan, providing participants with an opportunity to engage directly with the presenters and discuss best practices for ensuring safe, secure, and successful community events.
