New Delhi, 25th May: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday conducted comprehensive review meetings on National Highway projects in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, focusing on road quality, maintenance and monsoon preparedness.

The meetings were held in New Delhi in the presence of Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra along with senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

According to the ministry, the review was conducted based on inputs received through media and social media platforms regarding highway conditions and maintenance.

Gadkari reviewed the quality and maintenance status of National Highways covering 10,064 km in Rajasthan and projects spanning 1,947 km in Himachal Pradesh.

The Union Minister stressed the need for timely completion of projects, strict adherence to quality standards and adoption of advanced construction technologies.

He said durable and sustainable highway infrastructure is essential for improving connectivity, boosting economic growth and ensuring seamless mobility across key corridors.

Gadkari also directed officials and contractors to undertake extensive monsoon preparedness measures to minimise disruptions during the rainy season.

The minister emphasised effective drainage management, slope protection works, preventive maintenance and rapid response systems to improve road safety and long-term durability of highway assets.

Officials said the ministry remains focused on strengthening national highway infrastructure through modern engineering practices and continuous monitoring of ongoing projects.
