New Delhi, 27th June: The Ministry of Defence on Saturday dismissed social media claims alleging that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had stated no Indian soldier was killed during Operation Sindoor, saying his parliamentary remarks had been selectively quoted and taken out of context to create a misleading narrative.

In a statement, the ministry said certain social media posts had deliberately misrepresented Singh’s address in Parliament on July 28, 2025, by isolating a portion of his speech and falsely implying that he had denied casualties during the operation.

According to the ministry, the Defence Minister’s remarks were specifically aimed at countering what it described as a false narrative circulating at the time that Indian Air Force pilots had been lost during Operation Sindoor. It said the comments were made in response to misinformation being amplified to undermine the success of the military operation.

The ministry said Singh’s parliamentary address highlighted the achievements of Operation Sindoor, during which Indian armed forces neutralised more than 100 terrorists and Pakistani soldiers while inflicting significant damage on Pakistani air bases and military infrastructure along the Line of Control.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the armed forces, the statement said the nation holds the highest respect for soldiers who have laid down their lives in service of the country. It noted that the names of fallen personnel have been inscribed at the National War Memorial and that the government continues to provide educational, healthcare and other welfare benefits to the families of martyrs.

The ministry urged people not to be misled by selective excerpts circulated on social media and said the Defence Minister’s remarks should be viewed in their complete context.
